The house is in the woods. Is the ogre outside or inside us?
Progetto Ogro is an acoustic duo formed in 2023 in Bologna by guitarist Fabio Passiatore and multi-instrumentalist Federico Prandini, the author of the project. They blend Western musical tradition with a baroque touch and a simplified, fairy-tale expressive style.
Dreamlike yet visceral imagery drives their compositional research. “The uncanny (Das Unheimliche) is that sort of frightening which returns to what is familiar to us,” said Sigmund Freud.
In June 2024, they released their first EP, Progetto Ogro, with four acoustic tracks hiding unease beneath gentle harmonies, recorded by Alessandro Cosentino at Groove Factory Studio. Cover art "Death of a Comet" by Gilberto Cristalli.
They presented the showcase Sonno di sabbia and the video Ninnananna del lungo cammino, both by videomakers Manuel Cumani and Kevin Rosenberg Varbaro.
Their work Uroboro, expanding their compositional spectrum, includes the musical triptych Asterione. It was recorded by Alberto Irrera at SoundLab APS Bologna and released on December 22, 2024. Cover art "Uroboro" by Gilberto Cristalli.
The single Qàyin, released November 14, 2025, continues the exploration of the apologia of evil introduced with Asterione, unfolding a tapestry of light and shadow within a dreamlike acoustic landscape. Recorded at SoundLab Bologna by Alberto Irrera. Cover art "Beach by Moonlight" by Leon Spilliaert, 1908.
