David Ruoff, aka R U OFF, first came into contact with hip-hop through his older brother’s record collection, eventually developing an obsession with rap after hearing Dr. Dre’s classic 2001. One of
Ruoff’s biggest sources of inspiration came from his brother’s best friend, Boris Bidjan Saberi, known today as one of the most forward-thinking avant-garde fashion designers in the industry. Together with
his childhood friends Marco & Dario Zenker founders of Ilian Tape - Ruoff explored breaks, techno, electro and drum & bass, setting his
hip-hop production onto a uniquely analogue path. Ruoff soon became increasingly embedded in the German hip-hop scene before meeting his creative partner Elias Klughammer and forming production duo David x Eli in 2015. Since then the duo has operated between Germany, Atlanta
and L.A., producing tracks for a veritable who’s who of international Hip-Hop including Metro Boomin, Drake, Travis Scott, Mac Miller,
Future, 21 Savage and The Weeknd among others. David x Eli have been nominated for three grammy’s.
