‘Rafiki Jazz the best of British! (SONGLINES Top of The World)
‘Brilliant in musicality and transcendent in sound’ (WOMAD)
We’re 8 lovely musicians & singers from Africa, India, the Middle East, South America & Europe, bound together on a mission to play our sweeping divine borderless music to you all wherever you are!
For 2021 we've created a new album entirely remotely , online in a shared virtual studio, and the result is NDUGGU: Dust (KONICD012) releasing 26/03/21. Title track 'Nduggu Bouy' (Too Much Dust) is a call for action on our global climate emergency, whilst dust remains a powerful symbol of our ultimate destiny. Here are eight fabulous new internationalist songs of enlightenment and change that cherish the human spirit, its joy and its fragility.
We are...
Sarah Yaseen: Urdu & Punjabi vocals, ektara, percussion
Mina Mikhail Salama: Coptic & Arabic vocals, oud, ney, saz
Kadialy Kouyate: Mandinka & Wolof vocals, kora, sabar
Vijay Venkat: violin, bansuri, vocals
Cath Carr: guitar, steelpans, vocals
Tony Koni: bass guitar
John Ball: tabla, derbuka
Guery Tibirica: berimbau, pandeiro, gumbe
