Born In Canarsie, New York as “Laraine Aliyah”. she grew up singing & writing songs at the age of 9. At 10, a Social worker taught her how to play “Fur Elise” on the piano. Despite not being able to pursue taking classes (because of being in & out of the foster care system) None of that stopped her as she would often play by ear. When in foster care, she sang at her 1st school talent show at the age of 11. When she was 14 she went to live with he dad permanently to finish high school. in 2017 & 2018 she started posting covers & personal songs on instagram & performing at open mics. she’s explained she’s often struggled with her self-confidence due to rejection, as the rejection weakened her desire to pursue music & she stopped performing & posting, but continued songwriting everyday. Shortly after COVID-19 , she was diagnosed with tumor which forced her to remember what she was truly passionate about in life. In Dec 2021, the day before tumor surgery she wrote an emotional song & posted the video. the song was about her coming out of her shell & not ever again, losing her desire for music. The surgery was a success & she gradually started making her way back to music. she continued writing & posting snippets of unfinished songs she would write onto social media. 1 year later, she released her first cover to streaming services. a month later she announced to social media that she would be producing & releasing a song. “Z.F.G” is the first song she ever finished at 24.
