A Virtuoso Guitarist, Composer/ Song Writer and Singer, Rashid taught himself Guitar after learning basic chords at age 7 from A Teacher who was a Bass Player. The Guitar was an ideal companion to his naturally talented singing abilities but little did Rashid know that he would go on to develop such great technique and mastery over the instrument by listening to other Guitarists such as Santana, Jimmy Page, Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola.

Whilst his singing heroes were Robert Plant, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, Rashid also grew up listening to Indian Music, including Bollywood songs as his Mother, Farida Ali was a prominent Indian Singing Artist in the UK. He would often be performing songs at his Mother’s shows as a young boy.

In 2001, Rashid was discovered at a Charity Concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London by the Oscar/ Grammy Winning Composer, A R Rahman and suddenly his destiny took a turn when he was asked to take part and Sing in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Bombay Dreams. That same year, Rashid sang his first playback song, Nadir Dhinna for the Tamil film, Parthale Paravasam. Soon after, he began regularly touring with A R Rahman doing concerts all over the world.

In 2008, Rashid gained mass popularity when 2 of the songs that he sang for the Bollywood film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Kabhi Kabhi Aditi and Kahin To Hogi Wo became huge hits and he was nominated for Best Singer in several Awards in India.
