Rastak is a leading band in Iranian contemporary folk music, renowned for its innovative blend of traditional and modern sounds. Founded in 1997 by Siroos (Siamak) Sepehri and Behzad Pournaghi, the group started as an experimental ensemble focused on preserving and interpreting Iranian folk music for a global audience. Their mission is to merge Iran’s rich musical traditions with contemporary elements, creating a sound that transcends borders.
Each of the eight members of the band, contributing expertise in Iranian folk instruments and styles. Siroos Sepehri leads the band with his deep knowledge of Iranian music. Farzad Moradi, a multi-instrumentalist and lead singer, and Behzad Moradi, a skilled percussionist and vocalist, bring a deep understanding of Iranian folk heritage. Dina Doosti, proficient in Kamancheh, Gheychak, and Kamanche alto, adds musical depth. Akbar Esmaeilipour Farsangi, a multi-instrumentalist with a strong background in Iranian classical and folk music, enriches the band’s arrangements. Majid serves as percussionist and vocalist, while Sahar Rashiditorbati, the youngest member, plays Qanun. Behzad Pournaghi, as a co-composer, arranges the band’s music under Siroos Sepehri’s artistic direction.

Rastak’s discography includes albums like Ancient Hues, All My Homeland People, Sorna-ye Norouz, Among Eternal Suns, Bahar, Borderless at Home, Dance with Rastak, Essentials.
