Registers Red is an artist based in the Washington, DC. metropolitan area.
Dirty Jay is the primary songwriter, vocalist, instrumentalist, and producer, but works with other artists on various projects in a diverse range of styles.
Jay is a lifelong DMV native, and took music lessons at Loudoun Music Instruction, where his teacher formed an enduring local band The Immortals (2007). He played guitar and wrote songs in punk band Half Empty (2008), and bass & vocals in progressive metal band Midnight Sunrise (2013). He also contributed songwriting, in addition to bass & vocals to hard rock trio Dogs of the Hunt, appearing on the Blackout Sessions EP (2020).
He now spends his time blending old and new sounds to push through the boundaries of an eclectic range of genres, including industrial, drum & bass, breakbeat, jungle, dubstep, alternative rock, & more.
The independent debut single "Exercise Your Lies" was his first solo production released on 12/26/22, alongside a music video.
2025 has been a big year. Having already released 4 singles, Jay is currently producing his first full length album, Thymos, with some accompanying music videos, as well as a separate EP.
