Raised in Milwaukee, WI, Renz Young first appeared on the Milwaukee hip hop scene in 2015 with his debut EP 2975. Born Lorenzo Moody in Chicago, Renz began to build a relationship with music through his mother’s love for hip-hop and his father’s love of poetry. Combining sounds of underground & mainstream hip-hop, 2975 went on to garner local attention, powered by the single Congratulations, which was featured in Pigeons & Planes’ 5 On It section. From there, Renz went on to release numerous singles and projects, landing on publications such as 2dopeboyz, Fake Shore Drive, Elevator, DJ Booth, HipHopDX, Respect Magazine, & more. As a DIY artist, Renz writes, records, and mixes most of his own music, along with most of his own graphic design. In a time where trap beats and simplicity reign supreme, Renz makes sure to add his style of grit and lyricism to everything he touches. With national coverage, radio play, and internet buzz at his back, Renz continues to push his message forward; that no matter your background or small town you are from, your dreams are within reach.
