Richard Gabai has been writing and recording since High School where he formed THE CHECKS with bass player Marc Silverberg, drummer Casey Fleming and lead guitarist Mark Buechler. They played the high school parties then legendary Hollywood clubs like Madame Wong’s and The Coconut Teaszer. Music Connection Magazine singing the bands praises.

The Check’s were exposed to the wider public through cult films Assault of the Party Nerds and Virgin High.

Touch Me Tender was featured in California Casanova and Those Days Are Gone, in Fred Olen Ray's The Kid With X-Ray Eyes starring Justin Berfield and Robert Carradine.

Richard’s more recent recordings Big Black Cadillac and All Alone have been heard in the HBO Film Desert Thunder. Tear Up This Town. Was featured in Fox Studios wide release “Supercross” and well as in the New Line Cinema Production Popstar.

We’ll Be Back Again! - the single Richard released during the pandemic received a commendation form the City of Los Angeles and a bunch pf radio play with the video going viral on YouTube. The song was just licensed to the thriller The Girl in the Pool with Kevin Pollak and Freddie Prinze Jr.

There have been over 100 placements of Richard’s songs in film and television, but live performance is where it’s at for Richard and the band!
