The Octāves were founded in 1990 as part of a senior project at the University of Richmond. “Octāves” came from the musical term “octave”, and served as a clever reference to our school mascot, the Richmond Spiders (spiders have eight legs). Over the past 32 years, the Taves have consistently been a part of campus life at the University of Richmond. As time has progressed, so has the quality of the group. The group has spread its talents all over the east coast, performing and competing in various events ranging from non-profit community concerts to the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella!
