Rico Waya Hoffmann Rushworth (aka RicoR) is a DIY Recording Artist based in Santa Cruz, California. He writes and records songs in different genres, writing both band or solo based tracks. RicoR is currently obtaining an MA in rap and decolonization at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has published in magazines Interrobang, Porter Gulch Review, and owns a poetry channel under his name. RicoR has been featured at Indigifest, On Salon, and the KSQUID radio show The Sunday Dinner, where he has done three full length episodes. The latest one of these, "Spoken Word and Spontaneity: Self Expression, Identity, and Politics" was released in July 2025. All can be accessed on YouTube, Spotify, and KSQD.org.
He also actively performs in the Santa Cruz open mic circuit, including solo appearances at Stevenson College and MeloMelo Santa Cruz, as well as The Ugly Mug, California Coffee, and Corralitos Cultural Center alongside his collaborators Manuel Florendo and Roland Reyes.
