Ridderkreuz was founded in the summer of 2023 in Haugesund, Norway, by vocalist/bassist Templar and drummer/vocalist Dim as a black metal Band, though it later took on a more thrashy direction.
The original lineup consisted of bassist/vocalist Templar, drummer/vocalist Dim, and guitarist Fanden. Together, they played shows and recorded a demo.
Fanden left the band due to internal conflict. Before his departure, guitarist Ludvig Lunestad was recruited, and with him on guitar, the band recorded and released their first EP, Evil Medieval.
Shortly after the release, they recruited a second guitarist, Even Sivertsen. However, both he and Ludvig left a few months later due to musical differences and Ludvig focusing on <a href="spotify:artist:51ngeAhGZ5TxXzaF12Ft8A" data-name="Pigmentocracy">Pigmentocracy</a>. leaving Ridderkreuz as a duo, consisting of Dim and Templar.
Ridderkreuz is locally known as “Ridderbandet” (meaning “The Knight Band”) because of their use of medieval imagery and a mascot in the form of a knight who runs around on stage with a sword.
