Risa Kumon is a Singer, Songwriter, & Radio personality based in Tokyo, but originally from Sasebo City, Nagasaki, Japan.
Risa sings in a variety of genres but mainly specializes in Rnb, Jazz, Soul and Pop. She was first drawn to R&B after watching ‘Sister Act 2’ as a child. Risa found early inspiration in Lauryn Hill, <a href="spotify:artist:4iHNK0tOyZPYnBU7nGAgpQ" data-name="Mariah Carey">Mariah Carey</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:6XpaIBNiVzIetEPCWDvAFP" data-name="Whitney Houston">Whitney Houston</a>, as well as the Jazz music that her father would play.
Risa is a bilingual artist who has an inspirational and transparent voice with a powerful message. She lost her eyesight after getting measles when she was a child. Luckily enough, she recovered her visual acuity. However, she had an intractable disease called retinitis pigmentosa as sequelae.
Risa’s previous projects include a Jazz EP, a project of Christmas covers, and a collaboration on multiple tracks for an album with American artist/ producer, <a href="spotify:artist:3vwWWAW1IdnJw2uaB0cJ47" data-name="RORO">RORO</a>. Currently, She’s working on her forthcoming album and is a notable media name as a multilingual radio personality, interviewing celebrities and other entertainers on R2 RADIO & Risa’s Select whilst they visit Japan.
Having performed at some of Japan’s largest music festivals and charting multiple times in her career so far, there is no telling how fast Risa will continue to rise.
