Super Glue, the brand spanking new third album from one man garage rock band hero Robbing Banks is out now and packs a hell of a punch. Super Glue finds Robbing Banks staying true to form but sounding rougher around the edges, rawer on the inside and with his foot all the way down, pushing that fuzz pedal to the metal.
While albums one and two were outings of rambling garage rock in the spirit of the Black Lips and No Bunny, Robbing Banks new album pushes the needle further into the red. By blending the influences of his fuzz rocking side project Kitty Kitty Tuna, the sounds of Weezer, Grunge, filthy garage and that vibrating wall of fuzz the Smashing Pumpkins built for Siamese Dream. “I want the live sound to be noisier, larger, so I figured that the guitar had to become bigger and louder if I wanted to blow the skull caps off of people’s craniums”
Ten short songs ranging from raw garage rock to the pop and catch groove of Don’t Mind Me and the single Vampires. “They’re actually all pop songs, but I like to play them faster and louder than most.” Banks ain’t letting the current situation bog him down and has looked deeply into his rock n roll crystal ball, predicting a day somewhere down the road when he will be able to play the paint off the walls of every venue from Zeeland to your hometown. Robbing Banks: maximum rock ’n roll with minimum resources!
