While still teaching at UCLA Anderson, Robert Stefans pursued his interests in music via choral singing (Brahm’s Requiem, Last Fall), jazz piano and guitar.
Since he threatened to write a symphony one day, in 2023 he decided to finally make the move and set up a small music studio.
One thing lead to another and he soon found himself writing songs instead of poems (which he'd done for the last 30 years).
A fortuitous meeting with a young Indie
music producer Mark Selim (ex New York Lawyer turned full time musician) lead to the release of his first songs on Spotify where he wrote and performed his own songs.
In 2023, Stefans released his first album of 12 songs,
Ecclectic Menagerie, with some very nice reviews praising and describing the songs as Americana songfest.
Since so much of contemporary music is not memorable, nor singable, Robert writes songs that have universal themes and tunes that people can remember and hum and sing whenever.
