Founded by <a href="spotify:artist:2O5kuPsjD8GgJABzmpBnTL" data-name="Robinella">Robinella</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7z2UahyiQpQShHDxecC1Sa" data-name="Cruz Contreras">Cruz Contreras</a> in 1998, the couple released 4 studio albums from 1999-2006 under their own label Big Gulley Records, one album with Columbia Records, and subsequent records with DualTone.
The stringband featured Robinella on guitar, Cruz Contreras on guitar, Billy Contreras on fiddle, Taylor Coker on upright bass and later Steve Kovalcheck on electric guitar.
The original group disbanded in 2007 with a split in life and love with Robinella continuing to release music in her name and <a href="spotify:artist:7z2UahyiQpQShHDxecC1Sa" data-name="Cruz Contreras">Cruz Contreras</a> founding his band <a href="spotify:artist:06Y4yJmsrlzPrwIG46ce7X" data-name="The Black Lillies">The Black Lillies</a>.
Much to their enjoyment, Robinella and the CCstringband played a week of reunion shows at Dollywood’s Harvest Festival in October 2022.
