Hot on the heels of <a href="spotify:artist:7vkiEK5D7Gf0z4M1Va0CXD">the Vines</a>, Rocket Science emerged from Melbourne in mid-1998. The indie rock four-piece, which consists of Roman Tucker (vocals), Kit Warhurst (drums), Dave Gray (bass), and Paul Maybury (guitar), had dreams of making it big in music since childhood. They compose a gritty, glam rock sound that's a little more edgy than <a href="spotify:artist:7vkiEK5D7Gf0z4M1Va0CXD">the Vines</a>' candied punk. Their first song, "Welcome Aboard," was written on the same day Rocket Science came together. From there, they built an Australian following, which later collected U.K. fans. Opening dates with <a href="spotify:artist:7LuYiSXiWs86rwWJjEEgB9">Mudhoney</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7gMCi9ouTHLfqzJsjL1UVg">the Supersuckers</a> following into 2000 and their debut full-length, Welcome Aboard the 3C10, appeared the next year. Rocket Science's sleazy, arrogant style was a buzz well into 2002 when they recorded the sophomore effort, Contact High.
