Nestled between the mountains, rivers and lakes of the Australian countryside, Rod Coote experienced a tranquil childhood growing up in his small hometown in New South Wales. Now based in Melbourne, his warm indie folk music paints wide landscapes weaving acoustic instrumentation with his emotive songwriting & introspective storytelling, for quiet moments alone in nature or a reflective ocean road trip. He has supported Ziggy Alberts, The Dreggs, Morgan Evans, Mark Wilkinson , Kim Churchill, Steph Strings, Alivan Blu, Winterbourne & Kyle Lionhart.
Finding songwriting as a teenager influenced by Ben Howard, The Paper Kites, Gregory Alan Isakov & Dustin Tebbutt, Rod has built a community of listeners from busking, releasing music, touring his own shows & festivals in Australia, Europe & United Kingdom.
Rod has released four studio EP's that explore his formative sea change journey moving from the countryside to the coastline. These songs were produced by Garrett Kato (Ziggy Alberts, Riley Pearce, Tim Hart (Boy & Bear) & Jackson Barclay (Hollow Coves, Woodlock). His latest EP 'Half Moon Bay' released on May 9th and was produced by Hayden Calnin (Harrison Storm, Didirri) in his studio cabin on the outskirts of Melbourne Australia.
