Celebrated in Chicago for his virtuosic blues guitar work and soulful vocals, Roy Hytower also made waves as an actor, bringing legends like Muddy Waters and Otis Redding to life on stage.

Hailing from Mobile, AL, Hytower honed his distinctive vocal skills before making his way to Chicago in 1962. There, he took over as rhythm guitarist for Otis Rush, following in the footsteps of Mighty Joe Young. Fusing blues with a rich, soulful flair, he recorded singles for labels such as Avin, Expo, Brainstorm, and Mercury’s Blue Rock imprint, cementing his place in the city's storied musical legacy.
