RUINS are an exhilarating alt-pop duo hailing from Liverpool, United Kingdom consisting of members Lloyd Rock and Nik Kavanagh. Winding together shimmering toplines, with melodic basslines and a healthy pop sentiment, the group have developed a reputation as a must-see live act with a cult-like appreciation. Debuting in 2018, The group have shared the stage with the likes of China Crisis, A Flock Of Seagulls and Manchester supergroup Unknown Territories.
Making a defiant comeback, alt-pop duo RUINS return with their latest single ‘Low Postcards’. Their first release since 2022’s ‘Pure at Heart’, the pair are back for 2025 with a strong vision of things to come.
Spilling across the airwaves, RUINS’ distinctive creative charms unfold across the new single. Bringing forth a nostalgic sentiment, with a contemporary glow, ‘Low Postcards’ sees the group emulate a Somerville-esque falsetto whilst gleaming toplines bring a healthy pop sentiment to the track.
Speaking about the release, “The old adage, ‘give me three chords and the truth,’ really shaped the foundation of Low Postcards. I started with a simple three-chord pattern on my synth, which isn’t my usual instrument, and it took on this hypnotic, soulful quality. It reminded me of that 90s trip-hop groove but with its own ethereal twist. It’s an anthem for the unheard outsider, full of lush textures and raw emotion that pulls you in and holds you there.”
