I have always loved music. It was while on a spiritual journey in 2010 in Mexico that I was introduced to the flute. As we traveled throughout Mexico, we would stop at ancient pyramids and perform ceremonies playing the flute and connecting with the earth.
I bought my first flute in 2011. It was a pocket flute with a DVD that taught me how to play it. The next week I bought another. I felt a connection and wanted to share that connection with others through the sound and feeling of the flute.
For the next eight years I played the flute every day and made videos that I posted on Facebook . I self-published three CDs and learned much about my relationship with different flutes and what it was like to perform in front of audiences large and small.
Many people believe that there are spirits inside each flute and I absolutely believe this too. When I play, something magic happens between the flute and me. The people who listen are transported to an enchanted land inside themselves. There is a profound connection that happens when the vibrations move through us. It is the spirit of Quetzelquatl bringing us together.
This year I was introduced to the old Historic native flutes of the Lakota, Ute and many others It has been a beautiful education and an honor to connect with the relatives of some of these historic flute makers and players as there is a deep and profound connection with these First Nation people and the song of the flute that goes way back in there history.
