Rut Spence is a country rock singer/songwriter from Lexington, South Carolina. Rut’s cowboy roots began when he was a child living on a horse farm in Gilbert, South Carolina. Being one of four boys, hunting, fishing, and playing sports with his brothers and his dad became a way of life. As much as Rut loved being outside, he equally loved spending time with his mom and Nana, learning how to write poetry, which is where his love for writing music originated.
Rut’s mom, Eliza (who recorded several EPs herself in the Beach, Rhythm and Blues genre when he was very young) would often take him into the studio with her where Rut began to feel the tug towards a music career.
Navigating the loss of both his grandfathers and the tragic suicides of his two uncles over the years, writing music became an outlet to heal. He started writing music at the age of 14 and has been chasing his dreams ever since.
Rut’s debut single, “His Truck” was recorded at OmniSound Studios in Nashville Tennessee and released in 2021. Since then, he has released an EP containing a variety of unique sounds with each song relating to love, loss, and ‘gettin rowdy’; all of which are available on Spotify and Apple Music. His most recent single, “Open Tab” was released in the summer of 2024.
