Ryan Beaver is from Emory, Texas. Born on March 17, 1984 and growing up in East Texas, Beaver moved South and began his musical career while he was attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He released his latest project, RX, in May of 2016 to critical acclaim from major outlets such as NPR, CMT, Rolling Stone and many others.
At the end of 2016, UPROXX named Rx the second best country album of 2016 and said "Every once in a while, as a critic, you’ll encounter a record that should’ve been a massive blockbuster that just doesn’t hit. Rx was one of those — it’s chock full of wry lo-fi country gems like “Jesus Was A Capricorn,” or the devastating steel guitar-driven title track..."
Stereogum premiered his single "Dark" and called it "the strongest country song I've heard all year." NPR Music shared the album's closing song "If I Had A Horse" as a "Songs We Love." Jewly Hight said "'Horse' concludes Beaver's new album RX, with stark, demo-like vulnerability… The remainder of the dozen tracks perform similarly visceral emotional work, albeit with a livelier combination of Music Row proficiency, singer-songwriter/ roots-rock earthiness and digital punch."
Rolling Stone Country named Beaver one of "10 Country Artists You Need To Know," and also premiered his single "Rum and Roses."
This year, CMT included Beaver as part of their LISTEN UP series of 17 artists to watch in 2017.
