Hailing from Invercargill at the bottom of New Zealand, the drive to break the mould has been there since day dot. With genuine lyrics drawn from home and a rock n’ roll-meets-pop driving energy, Sam Cullen is a force to be reckoned with.
Now based in Auckland, Sam has honed his influences, figured himself out a little more and
introduced a 4-piece live band. All of this has culminated in his debut album released in November 2025. The album is a reflection on coming to terms with adulthood, inspired by stories from home and experiences coming of age in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
The lead single ‘That Somebody’s You’ spent 5 weeks on the Hot NZ 20 Singles Chart and boasts a
picturesque video shot on the SH1 Desert Rd by Tom Grut. Over the past 5 years, Sam has steadily
climbed the ladder of success; releasing three EP’s, playing on some of Aotearoa’s biggest stages,
selling out headline shows and playing support slots around the country. The summer of 25/26 was
Sam's biggest yet as he took his 4-piece band on the road, hallmarked by a 2-night residency at Rhythm & Vines.
Don't stop fighting darlin', or let a Friday night get you down.
