SamMustSwim was formed by five guys who had day jobs in the tech and other industries. They were brought together by their love and passion for music. They would jam in a studio near the Business Districts and self-produced original music inspired by the music they grew up with. On October 20, 2010, they launched their first self-produced album at the Hard Rock Cafe in Makati, the Philippines among friends and fans. What inspired them? Their collective experiences drove them to create music that would inspire others to create their own. They were also fascinated with people and their stories, and how individuals celebrated moments in life. Their influences? They call their music genre RockWave (which is a fusion of Rock and New Wave) as they all grew up in the 80s. Most of their songs tell the story of love, loss and getting up again, and of places and timelines that reflected the best (and bad) times of their lives. The members are Sam Jacoba (Vocals, Lyrics, Music & Producer), John Rosado (Vocals, Bass Guitar, Arrangement), Von Ryan Manalastas (Drums & Percussion), Mark Goze (Vocals, Guitar), and Erwin Oliva (Lead Guitar, Vocals). The album also had help from the patient and great sound engineer, Pat Jalbuena.
