Sara Curruchich, cantautora maya Kaqchikel de Guatemala, utiliza la música y las letras para tejer mensajes de amor, conciencia, respeto y defensa de los derechos humanos, lo que la ha convertido en una portadora de luz y esperanza para muchas niñas, mujeres y Pueblos de América Latina.
Desde su plataforma musical, Sara une voces en pro de la igualdad de género y visibiliza la importancia del acceso a la justicia social de las mujeres indígenas alrededor del mundo. Actualmente, comparte su segundo disco Mujer Indígena en gira por diferentes países como Guatemala, México, Costa Rica, Francia, Estados Unidos, España, Colombia, Chile, entre otros. Su producción musical dialoga con diversos géneros como el rock, el folk y la música tradicional maya.
Sara Curruchich is the first indigenous Guatemalan singer and songwriter to sing in Kaqchikel (her mother tongue), as well as Spanish, for an international audience. Her voice and message of love, awareness, respect and defense of life in all its forms, have led many people to regard her as a beacon of light and hope.
Her music blends various genres such as rock, folk and traditional Mayan Kaqchikel music. Sara's strong commitment to historical memory has earned her recognition, not only in the world of art and music, but also in various arenas for debate at a community level. To this day, she has performed in major venues in South America, Central America, North America and Europe
