Born in the mountains outside of Boulder, Colorado, Sara nurtured her connection with nature from a young age. It is from this infatuation with earth’s abundant wonders that grows the poetry that she spins into song.
Sara is a storyteller at heart, and she unabashedly offers the tender accounts of her life’s journey through her music. From her battles with sickness and confrontations with death, to her pilgrimage to self love, to the magic of finding her voice as a vehicle for wellness, and all the heartbreaks and highs along the way. Sara offers a depth in her music that is relatable and raw, and many come to her songs for their medicine. It is Sara’s greatest honor in life to offer the elixir of music as a salve to the heart space, guiding people home to themselves, and helping them feel better, one loving melody at a time.
Mother Medicine is her debut solo album, recorded in Boulder, CO. It is Sara’s intention for this album to provide a container for healing; a place to process the griefs and joys of life’s journey, to feel and be present, to question and find answers, and also to celebrate our incredible walk on this earth. This is Sara’s second album, the first, Moon Over Mountains, was created within her sibling duo, The Emmitt Sisters.
