The brainchild of Texas-based artist Steven Trimble, Saturn Will Not Sleep began as an experiment combining light and music for live shows. The music blends elements of '80s synthpop, synth soundtracks, and ambient into an immersive, cinematic sound. You might call it ambient synthwave.
"I'm in love with the early era of synthesizers," Trimble says. "I aim to create true-to-era sounds, even down to the types of drum machines used. It needs to sound authentic."
Saturn Will Not Sleep's debut album Voyager (released on October 26, 2018) pays tribute to the amazing 41-year journey of NASA's Voyager spacecraft. It plays out like a story -- one of a voyage with no definite end.
On October 31, 2019, Saturn dropped the single "Hells Bells," an atmospheric synth cover of the AC/DC classic, which was released on Halloween 39 years ago.
