Saturne is the musical universe inhabited by three talented young musicians: John Ferrère, Ulysse Cottin, and Gabriel Mimouni. After completing his hip-hop jazz project Hopestacle, John Ferrère decided to embark on a new instrumental music venture, free from speech and lyrics. To bring this vision to life, he partnered with Ulysse Cottin, singer of Papooz. Gabriel Mimouni, a classically trained cellist and member of Papooz, joined the duo to give birth to Saturne.
The cinematic quality of their music quickly became central to their identity, with influences drawn from the great masters of the genre, such as Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, and John Barry. They surrounded themselves with a diverse array of musicians capable of enriching their sound with orchestral textures. Based at the Chez Jean studio, an audiovisual production house in Paris, Saturne uses this creative space as both a laboratory for experimenting with their style and sound, and as a platform for collaborating with other artists.
Lulled by influences ranging from jazz and classical to bossa nova and funk, the trio composes with remarkable freedom, unhindered by stylistic constraints. Their approach is prolific and exploratory, embracing every happy accident that arises during the creative process.
