Since their inception in 2009, Switzerland’s SCHAMMASCH have blazed a path of creative evolution. Never restricted by the black metal genre from which they were birthed, their promethean spirit can be charted musically, artistically and philosophically throughout their rich body of work. This became initially evident on their landmark triple album ‘Triangle’, released in 2016, and was followed just one year later by the daringly experimental, but still well received “The Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite”. With their fourth full-length opus, “Hearts of No Light”, SCHAMMASCH further consolidated their status as a leading force in the extreme metal underground and beyond, not only entering the US billboard charts, but also scoring numerous ‘Album of the Month’ accolades and ‘Top Albums of the Year’ appearances in magazines such as US DECIBEL, METAL HAMMER UK, ROCKHARD etc.
Having toured extensively for the last decade, SCHAMMASCH have built up the reputation of a powerful live act, with their shows well known to be an enthralling experience on both visual and aural levels.
After 5 years since their last release, SCHAMMASCH have announced their 6th studio effort for October 25 - "The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean" - second part in an ongoing series of works that draws from Les Chants de Maldoror - one of the 19th century’s most fascinating literary works which would later become part of the foundation of the surrealist movement, an opus rich in creativity, leaving much to discover.
