Recorded live in an old jail in the Tremé district of New Orleans, Scott Ballew's 4th LP is his biggest sounding yet. While the focus remains on his layered and cinematic approach to lyrics, the fidelity and arrangements on PARADISO prove to be a fitting new sonic landscape for Ballew's storytelling. Part Neil Young and Crazy Horse energy, part Terry Allen subversive mind bending, this amalgam has been best described as: "If Townes Van Zandt was produced by Ennio Morricone. Paradiso features an all-star band of Michael Nau (Cotton Jones), Sam Doores (The Deslondes), Mat Davidson (Twain), Rob Barbato (Darker My Love), and Alex Pianovich (Greazy Alice). As well as haunting background vocals by Angela Miller and Lauren Hornsby of the Black Pumas. The result is a powerful union of 70's Texas folk and raw New Orleans Rock n Roll. Vinyl will be available in November via Light In The Attic Records. - LITA
