" Music is the invisible fountain between infinite awareness and the flow of time."
Scott Kungha Drengsen
SKD's work traverses virtuosic solo bass, post classical orchestral works, contemplative piano, gnostic hymns, revisioned standards and original songwriting. His fretless playing has been called "Fluid Perfection". And, he has performed in several international solo bass competitions and live-looping festivals. His debut album "Basscapes" remains one of the first ambient albums to feature fretless bass exclusively. And, the follow up "Mourning Guests who Never Arrived" has been called a classic of that genre. An early adopter of extended range basses and world instruments, his ensembles have entertained Jane Goodall, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Neil Young and opened for Stevie Wonder, The Pretenders, Elvis Costello and the Foo Fighters. His work as a bassist/sound designer can be found on independent soundtracks and with musical artists spanning many genres. Over the years he has drawn comparisons to Pink Floyd, Jaco Pastorious, Michael Manring, Aphex Twin , Steve Roach ,Squarepusher , Jeff Pearce, Phil Lesh and David Darling . His deeply personal and contemplative artistry explores the space between self and other, composition and improvisation, emotion and transcendence.
