They say every time a star dies, another brighter one is born. This saying is truly the case with Scova Notia. Like a phoenix being born from the still, smoldering ashes of its predecessor, this band can trace its rich musical heritage to many other musicians of the Ames, Iowa area.
By combining the alternative dance style of Jake Swegle with the indie folk, neo-mellow sounds of Davis John Patton, Scova has a little bit of something for everyone. Starting out small like every band should during the summer of 2017, this young group of gentlemen set forth to bring about a new kind of music.
Scova added Bennett Ford to the band after he backed Jake and Davis at the duo's first show at Burgie's Coffee in Ames. Jake saw a huge potential in Bennett after taking note of his drumming during their time playing together at church, while Davis felt that Bennett's hundreds of social media followers would help bring needed exposure for the band.
Since Scova's first show, the band has released two EP's: Ironic Pop (September 2017) and Ponderosa Times (April 2018), opened for up-and-coming Indie four-piece Sun Seeker, created their own holiday concert series 'Let It Snow-<g class="gr_ gr_21 gr-alert gr_spell gr_disable_anim_appear ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="21" data-gr-id="21">va</g> Notia', and tour the Pacific Northwest on their "Don't Quit Your Day Job" Tour.
The trio continues to produce new music and looks toward to future with excitement.
