Liverpudlian artist Seagoth has been showcasing their uniquely sophisticated DIY psychedelia since 2019, for both themselves and their forward thinking crowds across the UK. Inspired by alternative rock from the likes of Tame Impala, Alt-J & MGMT, the band was formed in 2018 by multi-instrumentalist, producer and lead vocalist Gene Ochoa. Releasing their first single in 2019, ‘Internet Cafe’ Ochoa began to flesh out a world of their very own.
Forming a genre-bending bouquet of retro synthesisers, surf vibrations and nihilistic lyricism, Seagoth debuted their album ‘How to Stay Wide Awake’ on the 12th of April 2024. “I wrote ‘How to Stay Wide Awake’ to provide a raw insight into the queer and female experience, however, I managed to tap into something way more universal - the human condition." - Ochoa.
The second single they released from the album ‘Eternity’ received great success, it was picked up by Andy Bell (GLOK) back in 2021 who remixed the track and propelled it towards a new audience. “Swirling, hypnotic psychedelic pop bliss” - Gigslutz. They were shortly thereafter signed to their current indie label Bytes and returned the following June with their glam-rock inspired single ‘Queen’, a delicately, introspective track about ‘female disappointment'. ‘Queen’ was endorsed by Robert Carlisle on X (formerly Twitter) which further pushed Seagoth toward even more independent-music-hungry fans.
