The 90s were a mental time in South Africa’s history as the country transitioned from Apartheid to Democratic rule. Emerging from this tumultuous time, when death squads roamed the streets and tension and fear of the unknown was palpable, was Seed, a metal band formed by four friends living in the sprawling urban jungle of Johannesburg, one of the largest and most diverse cities in Africa.
What makes a band a band? In Seed’s case a yearning to create mayhem in the most open manner possible; in their own words from an early bio; “It was also made clear there would be a perfect equality when writing songs, everyone must agree to everything, or the part or song must be discarded.”
No, that’s not why it’s been 20 plus years since they last recorded, it’s because half the band moved overseas and until the internet got an upgrade, it hasn’t been that easy to collaborate.
SEED ARE:
Gary Leicher – Guitar/vocals
Warren Gibson – Bass/vocals
Graham Douglas - Vocals
Matthew Thwaits - Drums
