Inspired by a shared love for bands like <a href="spotify:artist:2ye2Wgw4gimLv2eAKyk1NB">Metallica</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:37394IP6uhnjIpsawpMu4l">Killswitch Engage</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2OgUPVlWYgGBGMefZgGvCO">Queensrÿche</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:44wJRGNtWywCUJZug8FJg3">Unearth</a>, hard-hitting Alice, Texas-based blue-collar metalcore unit Shattered Sun were formed in 2011 by guitarist Daniel Trejo, drummer Robert Garza, and vocalist Marcos Leal. The eventual arrival of bass player Joseph Guajardo, keyboard player Henry Garza, and guitarist Jessie Santos solidified the six-piece, and a debut EP, Confessions, was recorded with producer Robert Beltran at Precision Studio in Corpus Christi. In 2014, Shattered Sun signed with the Breaking Bands LLC management team, and shortly thereafter inked a deal with <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Victory+Records%22">Victory Records</a> and began laying down tracks for their debut long-player. The resulting Hope Within Hatred, produced once again by Robert Beltran, was released in May 2015.
