Shawn Farley was born alive in Florida in the 20th Century. Cured and seasoned in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC, his life was changed at 15 when a friend allowed him to bang away on a very-loud electric guitar for 30 minutes or so. And that was that.
Shawn played with a series of bands in high school and at some of the institutes of higher learning he dropped out of, before moving with members of party-rock band Funhouse to Seattle. Shawn began releasing solo albums under the name "Yogi" beginning in 2001, the most prominent being Any Raw Flesh? Later Yogi releases included Salve, and Half-Pint Demigod, a collection of remixes of "Any Raw Flesh?" favorites by avant-garde guitarist and composer Andre LaFosse. In 2007 they released their only full-length LP, Life Like Luster.
In 2009, Shawn began a new solo project he called "5240" where he wrote, recorded, and mixed a brand-new song once a week for a year, resulting in 52 new songs over that year. A collection of the best of these was collected and released as <a href="spotify:album:6GEcLItTwGVhVp1U9LWEEs" data-name="What Aught-Nine Wrought: Selections From "5240"">What Aught-Nine Wrought: Selections From "5240".
Shawn now lives and creates in Los Angeles.
