Sheen Skaiz is a Rapper, Songwriter, Producer and Visual artist from Durban, South Africa. The name “Skaiz” pronounced “Skies” is the result of his curiosity with the unknown; whether it be something spiritual, beautiful, alien, god-like or something we don’t understand,there will always be a curiosity with “the skies” It’s self-reflective. “Sheen Skaiz” represents infinite possibilities, mystery and a curiosity within one's self . Coming up as minority Indian Artist in South Africa and experiencing the after effects of apartheid on his family and the people around him, Hip Hop/rap was not the easiest route to take as nobody would take a brown artist seriously, indian people have been in South Africa for 150 years but still, opportunity to tell a different side of the story is scarce. Sheen Skaiz was determined to show people it can be done and the little kids without representation and hero's that represent them, finally have some one they can be inspired by creatively on a global sounding level. It started with winning Jagermeister’s Back The Artist, then followed with working with Die Antwoord’s DJ Hi Tek. Next up he dropped "Get Right" which charted at number 1 for ten weeks on the 5fm charts , number 3 on the Trace Urban SA Hip Hop charts and also trended on MTV BASE. Today he counts Kwesta, Tellaman, Kyle Deutsch and Big Star as some of his collabos, Sheen Skaiz is now a certified SAMA nominated artist in South Africa and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon.
