SHEIKH are Mazen Almaskati (Vocals), Vish Mhatre (Drums and Samples), Jad Habib (Guitar), Josh Simm (Keys) and Rab Honar (Bass). With influences ranging from early psychedelia, hip-hop and R&B, the London-based band is carving out a unique sonic scene. After moving from the island of Bahrain, the band completed their lineup between Shepard's Bush and Hackney, nurturing and evolving their sound along the way. Working with Ian Dowling (Jungle, Blaenavon), SHEIKH's sound has caught the attention of listeners and tastemakers alike and has been described as both brooding and cryptically soulful. Their melancholy vocals are carefully balanced with hip-hop inspired grooves layered with warm sun-drenched guitar tones, all together creating a sense of unidentifiable nostalgia. The band recently played a sold out headline show at Birthdays and are set to release new music in 2018.
