Lavardo Sands, also known as ‘Shine’ , was born in Nassau, Bahamas. He is a descendant of Cat Island and Eleuthera, two of the most culturally rich islands in The Bahamas.

Shine developed an early interest in music, primarily as a self taught musician playing the keyboard, trombone, sousaphone, saxophone, drum and participating as a Baritone player in the world acclaimed Junkanoo Parade hosted in The Bahamas every Christmas.

Shine’s professional music career began in 2009 when he joined the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Band as a keyboardist and later became one of the lead singers. He then became a founding member and keyboard player /singer of
the band ‘Shadow Band’ and later became the lead singer of one of Nassau's popular bands, the ‘Synergy Band’ where he performs to date.

Shine's musical journey is ever evolving and his ultimate objective is depositing Rake N’ Scrape - the sound of The Bahamas, into the domain of mainstream music. His Caribbean sound is fused with elements of traditional Rake N Scrape, Pop, Afrobeat and Soca.

Shine has won Bahamas’s Elevation Award 2020 for ‘New Artist Of The Year’ and was nominated for a Cacique Award for People's Choice that same year .
