Formed in the summer of 2017 by siblings Johnny and Abigail Poppke and drummer
Liam Boyle, Shinobi is a Philly-based indie rock band. Shinobi combines the early 90s
alternative sound of Nirvana and Oasis with the 80s post-punk of R.E.M. and The
Smiths. They have been actively playing the Philadelphia college circuit while working
on new material. In the summer of 2017, Shinobi’s self-produced demo was released
by London-based Negate Everything Records. Their second demo, “The World is
Mine”, produced by Jeff Rattay at Tall Man Studios and mastered by Joe LaPorta at
Sterling Sound, was released in May of 2018.
