“Sure Sian’s got a great voice, dexterous guitar chops, is a looker and charming as hell, but what about the positives” – Tim Rogers
“One of the most promising artists in the Brisbane independent music scene. Sian has that amazing ability to sound live as she does on record” – Tyrone Noonan (George)
Sian Evans' journey with music and her craft has seen her transition from classical woodwind ensemble performer in earlier years, to the evolving troubadour & musician in adulthood.
A singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, followed by an intuitive ability to sing stories in gentle warble, yet embody the hollering banshee; whichever is called in servitude of the tune. Sian has written & featured across multiple genres from hip-hop, Skiffle Jazz, Blues & Roots to folk & world music. Her love of trad & folk can be heard, artfully woven into her pennings, tied by her own “ism”.
Earliest Influences include Texan artist “Michelle Shocked”, where she discovered her love of artful story telling via poetic lyrics, subtly introducing traditional folk tunes she would later make an ernest hobby of. Later inspirations included Fiona Apple, The Waifs, The Andrews Sisters lest mentioning composers/arrangers like Irwin Kostal or The Sherman Brothers naming just a few across a spectrum as wide as Doc Watson to Katie Noonan or Mavis Staples.
While experiencing writers block, Sian has been on hiatus deepening her understanding of lifelong obsession via a music bachelor in Jazz.
