Hannah Read’s music straddles both sides of the Atlantic. She is a versatile collaborator and forges her own singular musical landscape that draws from American and Scottish folk traditions as well as from contemporary indie-pop and rock. An award-winning fiddler, guitarist, singer and composer, Hannah leads her own band and is an in-demand musician on both sides of the Atlantic.
Hannah's forthcoming album The Fungi Sessions Vol. 1 was a commission from Edinburgh University - an album of fungi-inspired instrumental compositions, which will be released on October 20th, 2023. Throughout the album, Hannah plays fiddle, electric & acoustic guitar, and is joined by a talented cast of musicians including <a href="spotify:artist:0v5kYF6D2YsoToYXmEUhYk" data-name="Michael Starkey">Michael Starkey</a> on clawhammer banjo & guitar, <a href="spotify:artist:3bcLBxvaI7GsBzGp3WHnwQ" data-name="Nickel Creek">Nickel Creek</a>'s <a href="spotify:artist:3RrojqFzLBxlTfW6QQVtN1" data-name="Jeff Picker">Jeff Picker</a> on upright bass and sound design, mixed and mastered by <a href="spotify:artist:7dHt18RStzUIgrEqEX2l9V" data-name="Charles Van Kirk">Charles Van Kirk</a>.

Equally at home improvising on fiddle, playing Appalachian old-time music or delivering finely wrought original songs, she is an artist who can’t be pinned down to one continent, one city, one project, one mode of expression.
