Norwegian folkmusician Sigrid Moldestad is an artist with a rare gift for conveying beautiful melancholy and playful force. Her musical roots is the traditional folk music of her hometown Breim in Northwestern Norway. With this foundation she has built a unique expression, mixing traditions with new ideas from folk, pop and other genres.
Sigrid Moldestad lives in Bergen and plays a lot of concerts all around the country with her own band. She has released 8 soloalbums and has received several prizes for her work, among them “Folkmusician of the year” in 2010. The Norwegian Grammy for Folk Music in 2007, The Vossajazz Prize in 2005 and The Rolf Gammleng Prize in 2014.
She performs in solo, trio and band constellations. Her band: Sigbjørn Apeland (harmonium, piano), Jørgen Sandvik (guitars, banjo, mandolin), Anders Bitustøyl (bass), Anders Hall (fiddles/viola), Roald Kaldestad (guitars, mandolin), Kåre Opheim (drums)
