Named one of CBC's '30 Under 30 Hottest Classical Musicians' in 2023, Simon Farintosh is known for integrating the classical guitar with more contemporary forms such as ambient electronica. Amassing over 2 million streams, his EP 'Aphex Twin for Guitar' (2021) comprises of his own transcriptions of pieces by British electronic artist Richard D. James. His second EP 'Seascapes' (2021) consists of original compositions inspired by the captivating landscape of the Pacific Northwest, combining the lush sound of nylon strings with atmospheric synth textures. His debut feature album 'Noctuary' features a collection of thematically-linked pieces for 8-string guitar, including 'Distant Light,' winner of the 2022 Ottawa Guitar Society Composition Competition.
Simon resides in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), where he teaches guitar at the University of Victoria. He plays a 6-string double top guitar by Glenn Canin and an 8-string guitar by Jeff Sigurdson.
