Simon Jones combines high energy synths with heavy rock beats and uses plenty of distortion (and a sprinkling of madness) to create memorable, grinding music transporting the listener to their favorite dystopian cyberpunk nightclub. As a teenage tech-geek during the 16 bit era of computing, Simon Jones began making music using a second hand Commodore Amiga computer and a pirated copy of OctaMED tracker software. After a few years as a bass player for two heavy rock bands which have since passed into the aether, Simon Jones now works from his home studio on the east coast of Ireland.Influences from synth legends like Jean-Michel Jarre and heavy rock acts like Iron Maiden, Bush and Nine Inch Nails can be heard in Simon Jones' debut 2016 album 'Elements'. The growling and angry opening track 'Alien Dreamtime' is reminiscent of earlier Trent Reznor work, and the evocative, dreamlike melody of 'Alone in a Dark Place' is a piece of pure 1970s psychedelic synth nostalgia.'Destroy All Robots' is Simon Jones' latest release, and is a sci-fi synthwave trilogy using spoken word to depict the great future war between humans and robots. The concept is unashamedly borrowed from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of The Worlds, but Simon Jones weaves the masterful voice work of actor Tim Wells into a contemporary, synthwave production.
