SIMONA BENCINI
Presence and unmistakable voice of Dirotta su Cuba, is a singer difficult to label. She is a ductile singer who has made her stylistic signature of her contamination and transversality: she passes with agility from soul-funk to songwriting, from jazz to swing through the bossa. From the age of 23 she is the volcanic front woman of Dirotta su Cuba, a band that brought the Italian funk to the highest levels in the 90’s by climbing the radio and sales charts, recording 6 albums and making hundreds of concerts throughout Italy. In 1997 Dirotta su Cuba will participate in Sanremo Festival and their guest will be the greatest harmonica player in the world, Toots Thielmans.
In 2005 Simona released her first solo soloist album "Sorgente" with important collaborations.
In 2006 she will participate again in Sanremo Festival with a song written by Elisa "Tempesta" which she will also sing in a duet with SarahJane Morris.
In 2010-11 she will play the Magdalene in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
In 2011 Simona realesed her first jazz album "Spreading love" with LMG4tet.
In 2016 Simona reunited with the historical band Dirotta su Cuba with whom she produced a new album released "Studio Sessions Vol.1" with excellent duets (Mario Biondi and others).
His new solo album “UNFINISHED” will be released on next October 8th with collaborations of important Italian jazz players: Antonio Faraó, Fabrizio Bosso, Julien Oliver Mazzariello, Max De Aloe, Gaetano Partipilo etc.
