SirenSong – Biography
“In the surroundings of the ethereal we perhaps hear the Siren’s Song with greater clarity, and for Rachael Dunn and Shaun Lanceley, the Siren’s Song is lucid - a projection of reason wrapped up in the luminosity of music, the lightness of vocals but going into battle with an arsenal that can only be found at the end of well performed guitar, a stability surrounded by the warning to be taken heed of, that the Siren’s Song can be a force for good and away from the alarm and sailor’s dread in seafaring folklore and mythology … The Siren slowly draws you to safety, away from the sharp rocks of distress and trepidation, and with the greatness in which only Rachael and Shaun can bring to your ears”.
(Ian D. Hall, Liverpool Sound and Vision, April 2019)
Typically building on a foundation of songs inspired by Shaun Lanceley’s classically and cinematically influenced guitar parts, Rachael Dunn’s skill in writing stories and delivering sweet, technically complex, yet angelic vocal arrangements defines SirenSong. Performing as a duo live, their studio work creates freedom to layer instruments and build a wall of reverb and echo, whilst friends and fellow musicians are embraced temporarily into the fold to contribute to individual tracks creating a strong community feel. A multi-media edge is strongly evident through Rachael’s creativity which appears in band artwork and video.
