Originally hailing from Orange County in California, the band was formerly known as Class Traitor. With four original members , they released an EP titled "Things We Shouldn't Have to Say". Not long after its release, they disbanded and moved on to different things.
Frontman, Tanner Green (also known as The Groundskeeper) relocated to Las Vegas,NV and kept the band going together with Meisha Fast (also known as EllisDee) and rebranded the band as Six Steps In. In late 2017, the duo added JR Cataquis to the mix as their third member for live house show performances, and eventually became an integral part in writing, recording, and producing their first studio album in 2019, titled "Folk Punk Stars" as an homage to all folk punk artists and performers that's inspired them along the way.
In 2020, EllisDee decided to part ways with the band, and JR decided to concentrate on contributing to the band in more of a writing and consulting capacity. To date, Six Steps In is basically a one-man show with The Groundskeeper and is currently working on recording and producing a new album titled "One Step Up" that's expected to be released soon.
