Skater Dude came from Santa Barbara.
Not the postcard version—the real one.
Skater Dude was created by Patrick Maiani and Rick Maiani, two brothers who grew up surfing, skating, and playing music together.
As life moved on, things changed. For Patrick, that included a divorce that cracked everything open. In the middle of that chapter were his two youngest daughters, watching closely. Skater Dude became a way to bring light into a hard moment—a shared language of music, surfing, skateboarding, and choosing happiness again.
The iconic smiley face wasn’t branding.
It was connection.
A reminder that fun isn’t shallow—it’s healing.
Skater Dude grew into both a band and a clothing brand, built on the same feeling and now living on Shopify. Not fashion for attention—just something you wear that quietly says, I’m still moving. I’m still smiling. I’m still here.
The music always comes first.
The first two singles, “Coconut Mojito” and “Surfing in Santa Fe,” set the tone: relaxed, sun-soaked, playful, and honest. Songs for driving with the windows down, laughing with friends, missing someone without falling apart, and remembering who you are underneath everything else.
Skater Dude isn’t about perfection or trends.
It’s about movement.
Lightness.
Heart.
Santa Barbara surf music.
Skate music.
Freedom music.
Breathe.
Move.
Play.
